Why are ZEVO ZFS mounts without the nodev option?

Post by grahamperrin » Sat Jan 19, 2013 9:04 am

A question for someone with experience of ZFS on other platforms.

For a pool where the drive is removable/detachable (let's say, USB or FireWire):

  • is it normal for mounts to be without the nodev option?

In Super User: Understanding mount option nodev and its use with USB flash drives

  • the first answer makes me wonder why none of my ZFS mounts use the nodev option

– one of the ZFS file systems is on USB, and the drive is portable.
